Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Review
Samsung’s latest release is a new pair of foldables: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7.
I will be taking a deep look at the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 in this article.
Samsung has been a pioneer when it comes to foldable phones. They were the first to mass-produce the Fold 1, and it established the line of foldables. Since then, many OEMs have tried to take their fair share of the foldable market, but Samsung actually was a step ahead, and the story repeats here with the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
It is one of the best foldables that you can buy today. That slim profile of the Galaxy S25 Edge has been replicated here with the Fold 7, and it is one of the highlights of this phone.
Speaking of which, there is a lot more to like about the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Let me walk you through exactly that in detail.
Z Fold 7: The Performance
This is a $2000 phone, so you can expect great performance from it. Well, is it great?
The talk-to-the-hand answer is yes, it is a great performer when it comes to sheer raw performance. Let’s explore that in detail:
Z Fold 7 is powered by the best Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, which is the Snapdragon 8 Elite. That processor is then coupled with at least 12 gigs of LPDDR5 RAM. On paper, these are great specs, but does it perform as well in real life?
To answer exactly such questions, I have been power-using this phone for a couple of days now, and it is actually a beast in its own way. In its own way? Yeah, I mean, look at it from the front. That big display, coupled with sheer power, a stable internet connection from AT&T that offers great plans, and reliable AT&T customer service, makes this phone a gaming beast as well. A bigger display helps with a better field of view, so you can spot enemies from a distance. That’s specific to playing shooter games, which I did.
Apart from the gaming capabilities, this phone does well with regular day-to-day tasks like watching content, taking pictures, and especially multitasking because of the bigger screen, which you can split to do more. It certainly helps when you need to do things much more efficiently.
The bottom line is that if you are a power user, then the Galaxy Z Fold 7 can be the right choice for you.
Z Fold 7: The Display and the Design
Now, let us talk about the most noticeable feature of this foldable: the design and the two gorgeous displays.
Starting with the display, inner display to be precise, it is an 8-inch diagonally and it is one of the best displays on a big phone. It is Super AMOLED, and it gets plenty bright outdoors. On top of that, it is an LTPO display that can clock from 1Hz to 120Hz. Whether you like to binge-watch content or play games on your phone, it will help you enhance your overall viewing experience.
Let’s come down to the outer display. Samsung used to struggle with the outer display, because it has limited space. All previous fold displays weren’t as usable as this one – either they had a form factor issue, or they were just not that great. However, Samsung has taken a leap this year on this end. It is a proper display, I mean, even if you prefer to use a normal rectangular display, you will be just fine with it. It is Super AMOLED, along with being LTPO. It is smooth, big, and bright enough to be used as a daily choice for display.
Now that we have covered the display, let us talk about the design. When the previous Fold devices folded, it left a space between the hinge, and it didn’t look cool. But when the Z Fold 7 is fully folded, there is literally no space between the hinges. It closes like a book. Plus, it is so thin when folded, you won’t be able to notice the difference between a normal glass slab phone and the Z Fold 7.
All in all, I think it scores 9.5/10 in the display and the design department.
Z Fold 7: The Cameras
This is the department where the Z Fold 7 has improved quite a lot. The problem with the previous version of the fold was that it didn’t have much space at the back to fit bigger lenses.
With the Z Fold 7, Samsung found a solution within the camera array. If you take a closer look, there is another layer where the glass pops out of the back. This gives enough space to fit in a bigger camera lens. There is an upgraded 200MP camera lens in the Fold 7. It is the same lens that has been inside the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. This greatly improves the overall camera experience of the phone.
Bottom line: keeping in view its stellar performance, amazing display and design, and wide-angled cameras, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is one of the best foldable phones with a hefty price tag that somewhat justifies it!
